The Free Market Parade – Freimarktsumzug
On Saturday 26th of October 2013, our team went to experience the free market parade popularly known as Freimarktsumzug in German. It was a wonderful experience full of fun and celebration.
The parade started at 10:30 am at Pappel street “Pappelstraße in der Neustadt” in Neustadt. Due to the construction at Domshof, the parade took the Violen street “Violenstraße”.
The weather was little bit windy but it was a sunny day. 54 Caravan and 94 festival wagons kept the mood alive. Crowds lined up as long as forever. Parents and their children came out in thousands to witness the colorful parade. The music played by different groups that paraded were loud and entertaining, keeping the parade lively and fun. Kids picked and collected as many sweats and candies as possible. The street was well secured by the German Police and other private security agents. It was a multicultural event full of people from all over the world.
We must confess to getting their late, but that doesn’t stop us from taking the wonderful photos presented below. Enjoy them and feel free to share them. This year’s Free Market parate (Freimarktsumzug) was a success.
